Description

"Hunted and Harried" was written only three years before Ballantyne's death, and it is a very powerful story of the tribulations of the Scottish covenanters, in their efforts to establish their version of the Christian faith, in the face of heavy opposition from the Established Church. Much of the speech is written in the lowland dialect, so if you are not familiar with that you may find it hard at times to follow what is being said. But if you are interested in what was happening in Scotland in the seventeenth century, then read this book or make an audiobook of it. First published 1892.
